The two days at sea between Vietnam and Thailand were quite unremarkable. The seas were a little bit rougher but I am thrilled to report that my seasickness is a distant bad memory. The library is going strong and our student workers make it a really fun place to be for all of the students. We have started a library blog to post information about databases, books and travel tips. Eileen and I are responsible for the dry stuff and our students write about travel tips for our upcoming countries. The first iteration of the blog that they created was much more colorful and humorous but we decided to make it much more practical and had to tone down the humor. Check it out at http://infospaistheplacetobe.blogspot.com.
The only other notable event was when the ship's doctor alerted us to the fact that over 5% of the passengers on the ship were suffering from diarrhea. The CDC rules state that a ship can only dock if no more than 2% of the passengers are suffering from the "squirts" and "gushies" as she so lovingly calls it. Apparently, some of the students who visited Cambodia went swimming which is a no-no of epic proportions. A lot of students in Vietnam also ate the fruit and drank unbottled water which is also a no-no of stupendous levels. Makes you question how their GPA is high enough to be on this ship! I'm happy to report that I am not stupid and am not suffering.
We land in Thailand at 8:00 tomorrow morning but we have been warned that clearing customs is going to take a very long time. I'm lucky that my trip to the elephant village isn't scheduled until 1:00. Plenty of time to sleep in too!
