Orientation - May 20

We had a full day of orientation today from 8:15 am to 8:30 pm.  Ouch!  Anne and I are tired puppies tonight.  We were only able to spend a few minutes in the library so we are worried about getting things set up – especially since our work studies show up tomorrow and we haven’t had a chance to talk about training them.  I’m sure it will all work out somehow.  At the moment, I’m too tired to muster up much concern for it.

We ended the day in the faculty lounge having a philosophical discussion about religion with several other faculty members while enjoying a glass of wine.  Not a typical discussion that I usually have at the end of the day.  I feel so erudite – but I’m sure that will pass quickly.  Tomorrow night we’ve agreed to lighten things up and play the game “Catch Phrase” with several of our new friends.  I’m afraid.  I think I’m going to be trounced.  Maybe we should discuss global warming instead.

It’s wonderful being back on the ship.  Everything is exactly as I remember it, especially the smells.  It’s odd how a certain smell in a particular area of the ship brings back the strongest memories from my last voyage in Fall 07.  I’m having lots of déjà vu moments over the last several days.  It's kind of freaky.

Tomorrow is the arrival of the students so we are going to be uber busy in the library.  It certainly makes the time just fly by though.  It’s impossible to be bored on this ship. Sorry for the short post but I was so busy being erudite that I didn't leave enough time to devote to this blog. Hopefully, we'll get the students trained quickly and I'll have a bit more free time soon.
