Inching closer to Japan - 9 September

It's been a productive day today although that doesn't translate into an interesting blog so this entry will probably be shorter than the others.

The students are totally stressed out because all of the professors are giving tests before we reach Japan. They have a great deal of reading for their courses and they are also desperately trying to finalize their travel plans for Japan. The faculty are also stressed out from having to teach every day with no breaks since we don't have weekends on the ship. It's just one long string of weekdays until we reach port. A lot of the professors are worn out. They are also preparing for the exams and they are showing up in the library needing help loading materials into the on-line course folder. It hasn't been helping that some of them have Macs that aren't interacting with the intranet like they are supposed to. Very frustrating for them!

We are starting to implement some of our ideas for promoting the library and I'm feeling optimistic about them. Our student workers have also found the action figure librarian that we discovered amongst the supplies. She's been taped to the wall with a sign saying "Libraries are fun." We have some goofy students working for us.

Today has been a bit of a let down after yesterday with the Captain's dinner. There is another dance in the faculty lounge that we have been invited to. I'm not sure I have the energy to attend this one though. The thought of crawling into bed with a book is really appealing right now. The dancing librarian needs a night off! In fact, I think it's time to sign off and implement this wonderful idea. Oyasumi (goodnight).
