With classes in session again today, our library workers were also back at work.
Yippee.
After my long day at the library yesterday it gave me a fresh appreciation for their help in the library.
I am planning to have a library meeting on the 12
th and have arranged to have an ice cream cake there to thank them for all of their hard work.
They have certainly made the library a fun place to work this semester.
I also had dinner with my Semester at Sea nieces and nephew tonight. They are a fun group to spend time with and they had wonderful stories of Thailand to share with me. We meet every time we leave a port so that we can share our experiences and find out what was fun and what should be avoided. My nephew has been giving us a unique perspective of Thailand and Vietnam that the women have not been privy to. Given the sex trade that is rampant in Thailand (and Vietnam), it is rather hard for him to avoid certain encounters. Fortunately, he is a guy with a lot of brains and common sense and doesn’t partake in these opportunities but he has some amazing stories about the countries that leave me with mouth agape. My education is growing in leaps and bounds in areas that I really didn’t want to have expanded.
After dinner I retreated to my cabin to work on my blog some more. I’m glad I’m keeping a record of my experiences but it is rather amazing at how much time it consumes after each port. Since we have six days at sea until India this will be a wonderful opportunity to share some aspects of ship life with you. I’ll try to show you photos of my cabin and other areas of the ship over the next several days. Until then, goodnight
