Road Trip 2024 Day 10
November 19, 2024
This was a travel day for from Birmingham, Alabama to Greenville, South Carolina as we made our way back to Virginia. I'm afraid the only highlight of our day was another stop at Buc-ees! It was much less crowded since it was a week day and not the weekend like our first visit. It gave us ample time to peruse the Buc-ee delights...and Christmas will be upon us soon so our family should be very afraid! We had a blast.
Mostly I worked on my sarcastic cross-stitch and made a bit of progress with one of the two pieces that I brought along. It's been a challenge to cross-stitch in the car. My left index finger is full of sewing needle punctures at this point.
We stopped in Greenville for the night and had dinner at Dreamland BBQ which was excellent but baffling. They bring out a plate of white Wonder bread and bbq sauce as an appetizer. Never in all my time in the south have I experienced this. It wasn’t the least bit appealing to us so after a tentative nibble, we pushed it to the side. Which was a good thing because there was a lot of food! Mum was the most adventurous one again and order the okra and it was damn good! We also had fried green tomatoes (excellent!), and ribs (salty but good). Overall, it was a good dinner but they served a metric ton of it.
They are also known for their banana pudding, so we got a really small container to go and have back in our hotel room. We had it later and it wasn’t all that good. My friend, Charlotte, has made me banana pudding that puts all other puddings to shame so I’m just going to stick with hers.
We completed our evening in Greenville by watching a Hallmark Christmas movie - I don’t even remember which one so obviously it wasn’t memorable. Heading home tomorrow.

What a memorable trip for you, Terri and your Mum. I sure enjoyed your daily blog. Glad you resurrected it from your Semester at Sea!
