 Settling In with Day 3

It was a very quiet morning for us as we dawdled in bed reading and being slugs. We finally left the room for breakfast and did a better job navigating our way to through the options on the buffets. They organize their options by the country of the cuisine - American, English, Asian, etc along with bakery and fruit choices. It winds up being a rather odd concoction of food but it’s always tasty.

After breakfast, we packed up our cross-stitch and embroidery stuff and found some comfy chairs in the library and settled in for a morning of working on our projects. I managed to finally finish my piece which is going to be a Christmas present. Fortunately, I brought another piece to work on which will also be a Christmas present so no photos of that one either. Mum is working on embroidering flowers for small gift bags. Those are going to be some very special gift bags!

After lunch, Mum and I had tickets for a behind the scenes tour of the ship. It turned out to be a two-hour tour of the bridge, the engine control room, the galley, and the laundry room. How fascinating! Their main corridor in the staff’s area is called I-95 because it’s so busy all the time. And what a massive endeavor it is to make this cruise happen. There are 1,208 staff members on this ship making our cruise a reality and they work hard!!! We weren’t allowed to take any photos due to security reasons and were escorted by security up to the bridge and into the engine control room. We were glad we signed up for this tour because it really put everything into perspective of what a massive operation this whole thing is.

After the tour, it was back to our cabins for some well earned down time after all of that walking (my Apple Watch has now logged 3 miles and the majority of it was definitely during the tour). I’m also getting a cold so time in the cabin is very welcome. I’m super grateful to Mum for bringing lots of cold medicine. There’s something really nice about being taken care of by your mother when you aren’t feeling well ❤️ even at the age of 62.

We had a late dinner because we signed up for the Le Petit Chef animated dinner. How fun! The tables and place setting were white and each setting had an overhead camera projector that showed the animated chef  creating the “meals” on the table and then the actual food was brought out and was quite similar to the animated feature. If you go on YouTube and search for Le Petit Chef (skullmapping) it will show you the show that we saw. They have similar meals planned for the remainder of the cruise, but we were quite satisfied with the one experience. Super happy we did it given it was so out of the ordinary.

Back to the cabin after that and straight to bed rather than working on the blog. The cold was kicking my butt last night and

Kathy, feel better SOON! Sounds like a great day, I 95 gives an appropriate visual for the foot traffic of the staff - WOW. 1200 people to run the massive ship is tremendous as well. We have a new appreciation for the behind the scenes work taking place! Rest and recover my Dear 😘❤️😘❤️
