It was the second day of classes today and it was insanely busy in the library today. To make matters worse, Eileen and I are having difficulty figuring out the reserves because the professors have made so many changes to their classes that we are having a horrible time getting an accurate list of which materials should be on the shelf.
We are also dealing with a deluge of articles that need to be scanned and placed in their electronic folders. I spent many hours today scanning articles on a clunky, pathetic scanner. I’ve gotten the majority of the articles scanned but am still facing another evening of this joy. Ick!
The weather was absolutely gorgeous today - bright blue skies with the sun sparkling on the water. Truly beautiful. As a result, all of the students were on the deck by the pool soaking up the sun while studying. This evening, I had a lot of red people in the library. They seriously underestimated the strength of the sun in the middle of the ocean. There were some crispy critters walking around the ship tonight. It looked very painful!
I’m happy/thrilled/ecstatic to report that my seasickness has completely disappeared. I’m a very happy camper! Although I have to admit that I went up to the faculty lounge this evening and had a Guinness which wasn’t the most brilliant thing I’ve ever done. My poor, abused stomach wasn’t happy with me so that’s my cue to avoid the faculty lounge for a while.
We are due to arrive in Hawaii on Monday so everyone has been pouring over the travel guides in the library. We are also signing up for the second half our trips in port. I promised several entries ago that I would share which trips I am going on and since I am actually organized today, I can share that with you.
Hawaii – we are in port for one day so our options are limited. I signed up for a day-long tour of Oahu .
Japan – a day long tour of Kyoto to see pavilions and temples until I’m dizzy.
China - Bejing/Xi’an: sites include the Great Wall, Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City, Terra Cotta army and so much more!
Vietnam – An overnight trip on the Mekong Delta which includes a river cruise.
India – Jaipur/Agra/Delhi to see the Taj Mahal and so much more.
I’m still trying to figure out what to do in Thailand, Egypt, Turkey, Croatia and Spain. I have 24 hours to figure it out before our applications are due. Time to dig out some of those well-used travel guides in the library and do some research.
