Rolling Stones and Snoop Dog - 24 October

Well, it wasn’t Taco Day again so things were a little less bright than they were yesterday but, still, it was a pretty good day. It was pretty much the same ol, same ol as the other days except for the sea social tonight. I think (maybe) that I explained that the rooms on each deck are divided into seas to separate them from each other (Baltic Sea, Mediterranean Sea, etc) The faculty have the nickname of the Dead Sea : )

Each of the seas gets one dance night in the faculty staff lounge and they usually have themes. For instance, a 80s dance, an all white dance or, like tonight, a 60s theme. This was one that the faculty knew something about and since everyone is encouraged to come in costume, they did! Lots of tie dye and scarves around the head. Whenever there was a 1960s song, the faculty would dominate the dance floor and all but push the students to a corner. However, the DJ had some weird thoughts that some contemporary dance music should be played too so one moment we would be losing ourselves in the Rolling Stones and the next Snoop Dog would be playing. It was weird. What was even weirder was to see the faculty members trying to dance to Snoop Dog. Actually, it was down right frightening!

I hope that Laura, Shelby, Kelly, and Wyatt (my nieces and nephew) won’t disown me when I admit to dancing to Snoop Dog too. I was caught up in the moment and couldn’t help myself. Fortunately, for their sake, there are no pictures of this event and they won’t be psychologically scarred by the sight of their aunt dancing.

Tomorrow is another “no classes” day so the students can get caught up on their school work. Eileen and I will be working the hours ourselves. Yuck. However, we are closing down the library for a few hours in the evening so that we can treat them the special dinner that I mentioned several posts ago. We are really looking forward to this and I hope to have some pictures of our students at the dinner to show you tomorrow.
