Taco Day - 23 October

It was Taco Day today and it has been a wonderful day. Taco Day only comes around once in a blue moon and everyone is overjoyed when it happens. It means food that everyone loves is available in the dining hall and not the drek that is usually served. It ranks right up there with Cheeseburger Day! I tell you, the ship revolves around what is being served in the dining hall and is of paramount importance. To make matters even more wonderful, they were serving chocolate cake as the dessert with the tacos. Life doesn't get much better than that!

I got a lot of organizing done in the library too. I think my students are ready to shoot me because they can't find anything now but it looks wonderful! Eileen and I are also going through the reference collection and removing books that are no longer relevant or useful. It's a tedious process but it is desperately needed. We are going to have quite the collection of books to donate to charity at the end of the voyage.

Eileen gave a lecture this evening to the faculty, staff, and lifelong learners about Ikebana (Japanese flower arranging). I attended to give moral support and became fascinated by the topic and the photos that she showed from an Ikebana meeting she attended in Japan. This is an art form that requires a great deal of patience and forbearance. I don't think I'll be signing up for classes but I'm glad I know more about it now.

So, all in all, it's been a great day! God Bless Taco Day!
